Verizon just announced today that they will be implementing their 4G network this year and is planning on completely switching over by the end of 2010. They recently tested the speeds of the 4g network and found that it is significantly faster than their 3G network. Verizon has been testing their 4G LTE network; testing took place in Boston and Seattle and they indicated that the network is capable of peak download speeds of 40 to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) and peak upload speeds of 20 to 25 Mbps. Compared to the test results of the Verizon 3G network, the numbers blew 3G right out of the waters. According to today’s press release from Verizon’s senior vice president and chief technical officer, Tony Melone:
“Our LTE rollout plan positions Verizon Wireless to be a global leader in 4G LTE deployment. We are on track to deliver an outstanding wireless data experience to customers in 25 to 30 markets covering roughly 100 million people by year’s end.†“As device makers, manufacturers and others around the world begin to introduce newer and faster products to take advantage of these incredible new speeds, Verizon Wireless will be positioned to offer our customers new and exciting products on the nation’s first 4G LTE network.†–Verizon Press Release

The increased speed is always a good thing. Now where does it put us when it comes to our wallet, Wallace?
Will that replace current 3g equipment?Or is it an upgrade and will rates rise? @.@ Just when they just started to lower them....
Technology is moving so fast now,how long was the 3g network out for?If it makes things faster and it doesnt cause a rate hike Im all for it
Hurray for Verizon
Does that mean that there will be a 4g phone?
they are going to compete with clearair 4g in metro cities , like the super fast wifi set up atop of buildings and on poles .
In only "25-30 markets" by the end of 2010.
But "completely switch over" by the end of 2010.
Huh? Does handhelditems even read what they write?
