Sprint Releases Android 2.1 for HTC Hero April 9th

By: David Min   4,954 views | 2 comments

Android 2.1, the update everyone’s been waiting for is set for Sprint’s HTC Hero April 9th. This is all based off a document stating that the “fix” (Android 2.1) will be tentatively released scheduled for April 9. Note that it has not been officially confirmed but tentative, meaning if there is a possible bug or any snag, the update will definitely be delayed.  The Android 2.1 will include added Gmail support and Google Goggles, not to mention the most up to date HTC sense interface; it's a huge improvement from the 1.5 and 1.6 OS. But due to the calamity that ensued with the Motorola Droid, I’d be sure not to hold my breath on this one.

I spoke to Sara N. at Sprint today by Webchat. I asked her when I could expect the Android update. She responded: "2:40:21 PM : Sara N: The HTC hero android version we will release within a week." That places the release on or before April 9th, and lends some credibility to what they have previously said. My sprint Web Chat Session ID was/is 216983.
