Videos

As stated in one of our previous articles, the 3.21 upgrade has been released and this is just a brief update. For those of you who aren’t sure exactly what’s included in this new upgrade, it removes the ability to use a different operating system on your PS3, such as Linux. This mandatory update is now required to be downloaded in order to have access to the PSN. Sony calls this fix a security concern but a lot of people are speculating that’s it’s to prevent PS3 piracy. But is that all? There have been talks, although unconfirmed, that this upgrade also provides better PS1 playback compatibility for the PSN Classic Store and better security for MP4 playback. Either way, this upgrade is required and won’t affect anyone who uses their PS3 normally. But for those of you who do, I’d suggest backing up your stored data before even considering taking the upgrade.

Finally the Android 2.1 has released, unfortunately it’s not being sent out fast enough and people are still anxiously waiting for the update. Well recent news has surfaced to allow for a manual update. But please keep in mind this method is not authorized or approved by Verizon or Motorola. You’ll eventually get the update, but if you don’t want to wait anymore, check out these following instructions to get your 2.1 update right away. User discretion is advised.

1. First download the official Android update. MAC users don’t use the Safari Browser, it will extract the files and you don’t want that.
2. Rename the file to “update.zip”.
3. Put the downloaded file into the root of your SD Card. Make sure you put it in your root folder directory.
4. Reboot and Power on your device while holding down the letter “x” on the keyboard and then hold down the power button. This will take you into “Recovery Mode” If you do this right you will see a triangle with an exclamation point inside.
5. Press the volume up button and the camera button at the same time. You should see the options for recovery.
6. Navigate to the update.zip file by using the D-Pad and run it.
7. That will run through the install process and eventually received the “Install from SDcard complete” message. To complete the process, just reboot your Motorola Droid.

Congratulations, you have now just installed the 2.1 update.

Check out some Motorola Droid accessories to go with this update at HandHeldItems.com

Greystripe is a media mobile advertising network that has recently announced their new system called “iFlash ad units”, now this system enables advertisers to display ads with Flash. That’s right, with Flash. Greystripe takes ads created with Flash and transcodes them to run on both the iPhone and the iPad. Greystripe already has ads placed on the iPhone with this system but the new updated version, set to release in May, will include full screen ads. I guess Flash on the iPad isn’t impossible; unfortunately it looks like advertisements will be the first to utilize them.

Remember a month back, Apple removed the apps with girls in bikinis and that iWobble app because they were inappropriate for the general public. But apparently, there is news about Hustler working on something so that they can stream full length DVD’s and browse galleries. Existing members of Hustler will be able to access their account from their iPhone as well as their desktop computers. Well it seems like Hustler has found a little loophole to get into the iPhone market. Hustler seemed to have optimized their site for the iPhone, making it easier to navigate the site without having to create an iPhone app and get it taken off right away.

“Hustler is literally in the air now, beaming directly to cell phones,” said Michael H. Klein, president of Hustler.

“We launched this iPhone version of our main Hustler site so our consumers may enjoy their favorite Hustler content on the go. Now access to our robust content is available to you wherever you are, even when your computer is not with you.”

Well, now that this has happened, keep an eye out, you might be seeing a lot of porno advertisements coming up, and hopefully it doesn’t take form as those stupid and annoying pop up porno ads.

Take a look at the iPhone accessories at HandHelditems.com

T9 has developed a new system called the T9 Trace. If you all haven’t seen the Motorola Cliq XT, it comes with their “swipe” text input system already included on the phone. This lets you input texts without lifting your finger. T9 Trace works basically the same and comes integrated with XT9®. The XT9's patented predictive text technology provides error correction and word prediction capabilities that enable faster input and superior word completion accuracy. All expected from these guys. In addition, T9 Trace allows users to seamlessly switch back and forth between tracing and tapping at any time, giving users greater flexibility and control over the way in which they input text on their device. T9 Trace supports over 70 languages, and it may be integrated on any device platform. I can’t wait until I can get this on my iPhone.

Microsoft has said that it will continue to support and sell the Mobile 6.5 side by side with Windows Phone 7, giving many customers a short relief. However, the senior product manager Michael Change has basically revealed that the new OS will definitely have a difference in code level. So the Microsoft has no intention of abandoning, however, is going to continue to focus on adding in advanced multimedia support and rich browsing on this new mobile OS on a different code level. Makes one wonder how long the Windows Mobile 6.5 will last after the Windows phone 7 is released.

I was surprised when I stumbled onto this video showing someone running a F1 Racecar game and Mortal Kombat! Apparently the Android system can be set to run console game ROMs perfectly fine. I’m not too sure on how to do it, but I’m sure with a few Google inquiries you will find the answer.

Watch this video demo of a Google Nexus One running console emulators:
