Playstation Portable was one of the most popular handhelds ever released. But of course the popularity of this handheld went down, mainly because nothing was changed on the PSP since release except it's size and small changes to appearance. Last year the PSP Go came out, which was just a PSP that was shrunken down and had a slide screen to expose the controls. Nintendo already announced that their 3DS will be at E3 this year, so of course Sony had to step up and bring their guns to the table. The PSP2 will be announced at E3, and honestly I can tell  you that I'm pretty excited to see what they have to offer. I own a NDS, Wii, PSP, and PS3; and I've found myself spending all my time on my PS3 and PSP more so than the Nintendo stuff. I hope to hear more on this.

Avatar was released on Blu-ray just last week and sales had skyrocketed. Since the release of this movie in theaters, Avatar had already been setting new records in the movie business. But now, with its release of the Blu-ray version, Avatar continues to set records.

Before Avatar, the top selling Blu-ray was "The Dark Night," which sold 600,000 copies on its first day. Avatar's blu-ray release sold over 1.2 million copies on the first day of release (Tues) and by Thursday the same week, the numbers had jumped up to 2.7 million copies sold! Within 2 days the sales for this movie has already doubled the last record holder, which had a sales record of 2.5 million copies over an 18 month period.

Whats crazy about this is that sales will just continue to shoot up because; first of all this has only been out for not even a week yet and also the special edition and the 3D version are both not out yet. This movie definitely will become THE highest grossing movie for a long long time.

Well last month we talked about the Nintendo DSi XL coming out in March, well it finally hit the retail shelves yesterday (March 28^th). What’s is different between the XL and the DSi? Well its…extra large, and that’s about it. With the huge increase in size, the NDSi XL also has a screen size that is 93% bigger than the DSi’s screen. The huge screen is to attract and encourage “social” gaming, where kids don’t have to squish onto each other’s shoulders to watch the screen. The slant viewing angle on the XL increased as well as the brightness of the LCD. The screen makes it easier to read text but it causes a problem; the DSi’s screen resolution is 256 x 192, blowing up the screen “93%” will make the images even more pixelated. DSi XL comes with a pair of preloaded puzzle-games, Brain Age Express: Math and Brain Age Express: Arts and Letters. It's also packing the downloadable DSiWare Photo Clock app, which lets you put a digital clock onto your pictures that you took with one of the XL’s twin cameras. The system costs $189.99 (regular DSi - $169.99) and comes in "Bronze" or "Burgundy" colors. Inside the box you will find the DSi XL, instruction manuals, XL stylus pen, AC adapter, and of course the integrated stylus pen. I personally think this size upgrade is nothing to exciting. In my opinion I think that the size increase was to target the older users. I mentioned above that the XL’s makes it easier to read text but pixelates the images. I would definitely not want to give up higher res images, especially because the DSi doesn’t necessarily have the best graphics. All in all, I wouldn’t get this DSi XL; I would just wait for the Nintendo 3DS, whenever that comes out. It just seems like more of a technological advance from the previous versions.
