Have you or your friends cracked your iPhone screens? When you asked Apple how much it was to fix it, they probably told you $200. But don't worry, if a 10 year old can fix a cracked iPhone screen, you can too! Apparently this kid, Brett fixed his father's cracked iPhone screen for only $21.95 with a mail-ordered repair kit from 3Gcrackedglass.com. FYI his father's phone had a cracked screen but the LCD itself was not damaged, just the glass. Most people who crack their screens have this same problem, the LCD is left unharmed but the glass is cracked. Well now we feel a little safer, if this kid can do it we can right? If not I guess you might have to dish out that $200.

The process required physical cutting of the SIM card so that it is the same size as a MicroSIM card. The most important key is that you CANNOT damage the contact (gold metal parts). Unfortunately I don't have a SIM card to chop up for you guys, so take a look at this tutorial on how to convert your SIM to a MicroSIM the right way, without damaging it and rendering it useless. Check it out Here.

So if you have been playing with the iPad lately, I'm sure you have tried a few iPhone apps on the iPad. Usually it will run the app at the iPhone's native resolution, but the iPad offers a 2x button that will allow the app to fill the whole screen. The result is a pixelated screen that look horrible (IMO). The good news is that there is a fix for this pixelation problem. The bad news is that you need to Jailbreak your iPad.

So first of all you need to download the "Spirit" Jailbreaking software, then you just need to install OpenSSH from Cydia, and have an FTP browsing program on your computer. With those tools in hand, you have to hunt for "info.plist" file inside every iPhone app installed in your iPad, copy it to your computer, and add a line of text before copying it back to your iPad. Once you have found that file and opened it up in a text editor, you will need to add these strings:

<key>UIDeviceFamily</key>

<array>

<integer>1</integer>

<integer>2</integer>

</array>

If this string is already there:

<key>UIDeviceFamily</key>

<array>

<integer>1</integer>

Simply add <integer>2</integer>

And thats it! Save and replace the old file and voila! You should be able to run apps in non-pixelated form. The only thing is that, this fix doesn't work with 100% of the apps. There have been a few issues that came up regarding the fix, and those were some touch issues, non-working buttons, UI problems and also some alignment issues as well. So this will just be a long process of trial and error until, we still don't know which apps will work with this fix and which ones won't. Let us know if you successfully de-pixelate an app.

Take a look at the iPad accessories we have at HandHelditems.com

I'm not sure if you can see the T-Mobile and E sign showing that this iPad is running on T-Mobile EDGE, but apparently there has been a How-To guide that shows you how to run your iPad 3G on T-Mobile's EDGE network. I have yet to see or hear from anyone that has tried this out on their iPad and T-Mobile SIM, so please be VERY CAREFUL if you choose to try it out. This How-to guide requires you to cut the SIM card, so if you are not willing to do so, then you can stop reading.

For you guys that don't care, here are the directions:

1. Have your iPad 3G and T-Mobile SIM with EDGE data plan ready

2. With the SIM eject tool that came in the box, take out the AT&T Micro SIM and place it on top of the T-Mobile traditional SIM, trace it and trim it with a scissor or any other tool that can get the job done right (Be sure not cut the gold contact).

3. Insert the DIY T-Mobile SIM in the iPad

4. Turn off WiFi

5. On the iPad, go to Settings > Cellular Data > Turn Cellular Data ON

6. Turn ON Airplane Mode and then OFF to refresh

7. You should be on T-Mobile EDGE at this point, if not go to Settings > Cellular Data > APN Settings > And try these on the "APN" field:

Remember, this process has NOT been tested, and functionality is NOT guaranteed, so please be careful when you try this at home.

Well I came across this rather interesting device while I was browsing through the web. The Chumby One, alarm clock slash radio that can run widgets as well. Seems pretty cool right? But if you were to break it down, it would be just a very expensive clock radio. But if you were one to buy one of these Chumby Ones then you will be glad to hear that you can actually turn it into a 3G router! Just go and pick up a 3G USB model from any of your local 3G providers, take your Chumby One and plug a keyboard into it. Here are the directions on how to set up your Chumby One:

1. Plug in your 3G card.
2. Go to the Network Config screen by pressing the top button, going to Settings, then tapping on Network.
3. Select “create a new connection”, press OK, and wait for the scan to time out.
4. Select “Other”
5. Enter 3G as the name of the access point. It must have a capital G for it to work.
6. Wait for the subsequent scan to time out.
7. Select “Manual”.
8. Tap “OK” to select None as the encryption type.
9. Tap “OK” to select Automatic IP allocation.
10. Tap “OK” to confirm settings and connect to the network

THEN...

Plug in a USB keyboard (to activate the drop-down console) and use the command “touch /psp/start_ap” to flag the network setup scripts to configure your chumby One as an access point. Note that AP mode also works with other network sources, such as Ethernet-over-USB. So if you don't care for 3G or want to set up another access point, you can. Enjoy!

Unfortunately the iPad does not come stock with the Voice Memo App, but it is available in the iTunes app store as a free download. Voice Memo is exactly what the name says, an application to record voice memos. It is very convenient especially if you are on the run most of the time. Just open the app, talk real quick and thats it! You can listen to it anytime you want to and it will be timestamped so you remember which memo is which. But check out the demo on how to use your Voice Memo App.
