iPad App: Financial Times (Free for Limited Time)

This popular financial newspaper, Financial Times has hopped on the iPad bandwagon and developed their new app. Optimized for Apple's iPad, the app provides access to the financial newspaper's award-winning global news, video, comment and analysis. From today until July 31, iPad users can use this app for free without subscribing. Yep, you heard me, FREE! What's cool about this app is that it allows for offline reading, so this lets you download the articles you want and read them later. This is especially helpful when you are in 3G dead zones. For you number crunchers you can use the app to access an interactive markets database that features global and regional macromaps, market gainers and losers, currencies, commodities and bonds. You can also view stock performance summaries with detailed business profile information, estimates and targeted news. Pretty cool huh!? Well I'm sure you guys are wondering how much will the service be after July? Well you just have to sign onto www.FT.com, register, then subscribe normally.

iPad App: MotionX GPS ($2.99)

I'm sure you guys have seen this app before, you might even have it on your iPhone. If not check this article out, it even has a video demo. Take a minute to see it on the iPhone. MotionX looks AMAZING on the iPad. It was already one of the best looking GPS apps out there on the app store, and now that it has made its way to the iPad they tweaked up a few things and made it look great. You can already find this app on the iTunes app store for $2.99, so all you have to do is find a way to mount your iPad into your car! Maybe like this or like this?

Super Mario World on the iPad Played with Wiimote!

Remember Mario Kart on the iPad? Well here is Super Mario World played on the iPad Whats cool is that you can play this via a Nintendo Wii remote or even a PS3 remote! All they did was install SNES4iPhone, which allows you to play SNES games on the iPad, but also opens up a Bluetooth stack enabling the use of a Bluetooth controller (Wii, PS3, etc.)

Jailbroken iPad 3G can Send Texts

Supposedly the Mobile SMS for the iPhone OS does not work with the iPad, but after Jailbreaking the iPad, you can send texts perfectly fine. Check out the video below. Hopefully they come up with a way to make calls, then i'll go and cancel my iPhone data plan.

Run iPhone Apps on the iPad without Pixelation

So if you have been playing with the iPad lately, I'm sure you have tried a few iPhone apps on the iPad. Usually it will run the app at the iPhone's native resolution, but the iPad offers a 2x button that will allow the app to fill the whole screen. The result is a pixelated screen that look horrible (IMO). The good news is that there is a fix for this pixelation problem. The bad news is that you need to Jailbreak your iPad.

So first of all you need to download the "Spirit" Jailbreaking software, then you just need to install OpenSSH from Cydia, and have an FTP browsing program on your computer. With those tools in hand, you have to hunt for "info.plist"Ã‚Â file inside everyÃ‚Â iPhone app installed in your iPad, copy it to your computer, and add a line of text before copying it back to your iPad. Once you have found that file and opened it up in a text editor, you will need to add these strings:

UIDeviceFamily

If this string is already there:

UIDeviceFamily

Simply add 2

And thats it! Save and replace the old file and voila! You should be able to run apps in non-pixelated form. The only thing is that, this fix doesn't work with 100% of the apps. There have been a few issues that came up regarding the fix, and those were some touch issues, non-working buttons, UI problems and also some alignment issues as well. So this will just be a long process of trial and error until, we still don't know which apps will work with this fix and which ones won't. Let us know if you successfully de-pixelate an app.

World of Warcraft on the iPad?!

Yep, you heard me; World of Warcraft on the iPad. How is this possible?! No, there is no WoW on the iPad, this is actually being streamed via Wi-Fi by a program called, Gaikai. Gaikai is basically a game streaming software that lets you stream and play any game on any desktop using a Flash client. And as you can see from the picture, the iPhone, iPod, and iPad can (technically) run the game because of a native client as well. This type of software might make Apple a little pissed off, but who knows, maybe this might be the next thing thats going to slowly move onto the iPad. So you can run WoW on your iPad, how do you play it? If you have ever played WoW you would know that there are A LOT of buttons and commands you need to play the game well, and with no keyboard and no mouse, I really don't know how you will be able to play this game efficiently. I hope a video demo pops up sometimes soon!

iPad 3G Comes with AT&T Assisted GPS!!

So the iPad 3G has been released and theres 2 things different from the Wi-Fi version. First is the 3G of course, and second is the AT&T assisted GPS. The assisted GPS is a new feature that wasn't announced until the release day. Compared to the iPhone 3Gs's GPS, the iPad 3G's GPS was relatively slower to pull up a final lock on your location than the iPhone 3Gs but that doesn't mean that it is worse than the iPhone GPS. The reason is that during the test the iPhone 3Gs lost its lock on a few times while the iPad's GPS was able to consistently lock onto your current location without lag or having to catch up to your location. If you use your iPhone 3Gs often you will notice that sometimes your GPS loses track of where you are or tracks your location inaccurately. So in the end, the slower lock on is actually not a bad thing because of the fact that you don't ever really lose tracking. This is definitely a great perk that came with the 3G version.

Plants v.s. Zombies 2 ETA 2016?

If you own an iPad or an iPhone and STILL have not tried Plants v.s. Zombies, hurry and do it! Well thats not the point of this article but for all of you guys that liked PVZ, beaten it, and still can't get enough; I know you guys have already checked online to see if Popcap games will release a second installment to this game. Recently, I have done some research on PVZ2 and the good news is Popcap games did say that they would come out with PVZ2. The bad news is that the ETA for PVZ2 is expected sometime between 2010 to 2016. I am dissapointed in their response to the fans' requests for a second installment. Well i guess we all just have to hold on and wait for Popcap to Ã‚Â release this awesome and addicting game.

This game is not your ordinary racing game on the iPad. You guys have all seen the iPad version of Scrabble where you can use your iPhone as your tile holder. Well this is sort of the same thing, but instead of your tile holder, you have a race car. This game lets you use your iPhone as a controller while you guys watch everything on the iPad. This app is available at the iTunes app store for $5.
