If you guys are like me, you don't really pay much attention to the user manual when you get a new phone. Unless there was something that i REALLY needed to figure out, I would never touch that thing. Why? Well, theres just so much to read and a lot of it is stupid trivial info that I already know or I don't need to know.

Designers Clara Gaggero, Adrian Westaway and Jaako Tuomivara came out with a creative and very practical way to guide people through the user's manual. The way they did it was by designing a new user manual which resembles a children's book. It has a cutout where the phone is and each page has diagrams and instructions of which buttons to push and what to do. Pretty neat! This will save time for customer service departments for many phone manufacturers.

Hewlett-Packard, better known as HP, has just bought out the phone creater Palm for 1.2 billion. With the purchase of Palm, HP is planning on creating phones and tablet computers to run on Palm software. However there is a lot of talk if this was a good choice for HP. There have also been talks of a webOS tablet that HP could be making. There is a lot of talk about this new buy out but nothing official has been announced except for the HP-Palm purchase. But it's surprising to see HP purchase Palm as everyone  was speculating Lenovo to be the main buyer after HTC dropped out. More information on this when official word comes out from HP.

On the Canadian Carrier Bell Mobility, the Palm Pre device was offered for $199.95 along with a 3 year contract. With the lack of success for these Palm devices, Bell decided to reduce the price. Now it looks like Bell is again reducing the cost of the Palm Pre to absolutely nothing. They also reduced the contract by a year. That means Bell Mobility is now offering the Palm Pre free with a 2 year contract as opposed to the original 3 year. Due to the slow sales of the Palm Pre it looks like Bell is doing what they can do get rid of these devices, or make room for something else.

This is another  mobile TV device made from Qualcomm called FLO TV. However this uses their own network that's not 3G to send out video. With FLO TV sent over a different network,  streaming could provide to be run much more smoother as it won't be interrupted by high bandwith apps.  However FLO TV will only work  if the device has a special FLO TV chip. FLO TV must be be developed inside the phone in order for his to work. FLO TV is not included in the iPhone but they're working with a company called Mophie to put a chip in a sleeve they call Juice Pack TV for Apple devices to help catch FLO TV's signal on their network. Some smartphones should start coming with the FLO chip to offer this feature sometime late this year to early next year.

Oprah, one of the largest names in television, is creating a mobile app available for BlackBerry, Palm, iPhone, and Android phones. Developed by Harpo Studios and Hands-On Moible, users will be able to access content from her website Oprah.com. Unfortunately this app will not be free and will vary in price depending on which device is used.  Some of the features of the app includes video clips from her Oprah show, with audio clips, articles, and a photo gallery. This app gives you full coverage of her website and her show to know what's going on in the Oprah world. With Oprahs big success on television and even acquiring over a million followers, it's not surprising to see her own app to come out sooner or later.
