If you guys are like me, you don't really pay much attention to the user manual when you get a new phone. Unless there was something that i REALLY needed to figure out, I would never touch that thing. Why? Well, theres just so much to read and a lot of it is stupid trivial info that I already know or I don't need to know.

Designers Clara Gaggero, Adrian Westaway and Jaako Tuomivara came out with a creative and very practical way to guide people through the user's manual. The way they did it was by designing a new user manual which resembles a children's book. It has a cutout where the phone is and each page has diagrams and instructions of which buttons to push and what to do. Pretty neat! This will save time for customer service departments for many phone manufacturers.

Nokia announces their latest smartphone called the N8. It has some strong features such as the 12MP camera with a secondary front facing camera and HD video recording, great for picture taking and recording on the go in HD. It has a 3.5" touchscreen display, HDMI port, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 16GB storage, will also feature FM receiver and transmitter that allows users to use in the car without an auxiliary cord. The N8 will also be running on the Symbian OS that include features such as pinch-to-zoom, multi-touch, flick scrolling,  and multiple home screens and widgets. This new Nokia smartphone will cost around $500 for an unlocked model.

The hit social networking site has been improved for the Android market. Having a lack of a message inbox, users were complaining about having such limited features. This new update announced Friday enabled the use of a messaging inbox. It also adds multi-touch in photo viewer  and changed some of the layout features to provide a more rich and easy to navigate user experience.  With Facebook integrating with other sites such as Yelp, Android is making sure users have a great experience via mobile access. Another Twitter client is out going by the name of Sobees. Like all other social media clients, Sobees aims to become the social media client everyone uses. Sobees app allows users to  access multiple Twitter accounts with ease, share your location and photos and shorten URLs for easier convenience. You can also read Tweets while offline  and do the basic features such as viewing profiles, maps, and maps. Sobees is also planning to work on a Facebook and LinkedIn app sometime later this year and is currently working on developign apps for the iPhone, Windows phone, and the iPad. But with so much competition from the official Twitter itself on app usage, it's hard to determine how popular this third party client will be. Expect more from Sobees in the near future with more apps and clients for all the social media sites.

This is another  mobile TV device made from Qualcomm called FLO TV. However this uses their own network that's not 3G to send out video. With FLO TV sent over a different network,  streaming could provide to be run much more smoother as it won't be interrupted by high bandwith apps.  However FLO TV will only work  if the device has a special FLO TV chip. FLO TV must be be developed inside the phone in order for his to work. FLO TV is not included in the iPhone but they're working with a company called Mophie to put a chip in a sleeve they call Juice Pack TV for Apple devices to help catch FLO TV's signal on their network. Some smartphones should start coming with the FLO chip to offer this feature sometime late this year to early next year.

With so many smartphones increasing video resolution and screen size, it's causing a lot of attraction for mobile television. Fox mobile group  is currently working on creating a mobile video service called Bitbop. It was announced at the CTIA this year to be available as an app for all smartphone and iPhone devices at a $10 per month subscription for all major U.S. wireless carriers. Users will stream or download temporarily through 3G/4G or WiFi. Bitbop plans on releasing an app for Android and BlackBerry devices first before stepping into the iPhone market. Due to belonging to the Fox company, this mobile TV service  will have access to Fox content and its partners such as NBC and Discovery. It looks like a promising app that's expected to be released sometime later this year.

Oprah, one of the largest names in television, is creating a mobile app available for BlackBerry, Palm, iPhone, and Android phones. Developed by Harpo Studios and Hands-On Moible, users will be able to access content from her website Oprah.com. Unfortunately this app will not be free and will vary in price depending on which device is used.  Some of the features of the app includes video clips from her Oprah show, with audio clips, articles, and a photo gallery. This app gives you full coverage of her website and her show to know what's going on in the Oprah world. With Oprahs big success on television and even acquiring over a million followers, it's not surprising to see her own app to come out sooner or later.
