Trademark has always been a big deal for companies, in Korea, trademark is operated differently then the US. The manufacturer would have to acquire two trademarks for hardware and software separately. Samsung have recently acquired the Android trademark for hardware, which forbids the rest of the manufactures to release Android branded device. Although this hardware trademark will not influence other manufacturers from releasing any cell phone products with Android OS, this still will give Samsung a Huge advantage over the rest of the manufactures in Korea. Some interesting information about the trademark, the Android trademark was previously owned to a local supplier Triplex, who has owned it long before Google OS came out.  Looks like Samsung is continuing to pursue the Android markets in Korea aggressively to be the prime seller.
